Do you recommend wood floors for people with allergies?
We sure do. Unlike carpet, wood floors don't trap dust and pet hair/dander. Cleaning up a wood floor is easy, either vaccuum or dust mop. One of the first thing an allergist will mention to someone suffering from allergies is to change their carpets to hardwood floors.

What is the difference between solid, floating, prefinished, unfinished, and engineered flooring?
1. Solid wood flooring ranges between 5/8"-1 1/4" thick. The material is made of one solid piece. This floor can be nailed or glued to the subfloor.
2. Floating wood flooring is not permanently affixed to the subfloor. It relies on gravity to hold it into position.
3. Prefinished wood flooring is a factory finished product. Once the product is installed it is complete. There is no sanding and finishing required. Prefinished flooring saves the time of sanding. This floor can be either nailed or glued to the subfloor.
4. Unfinished wood flooring is either solid or engineered . Once the floor is installed it is necessary to sand and apply finish. This flooring can either be nailed or glued.
5. Engineered wood flooring is made of layers. This flooring is recommended for use below grade, over radiant heat and all other areas. This floor can be floated , nailed, and glues.

I've heard wood floor re-sanding is very messy?
It doesn't have to be. We use dustless sanders. This process eliminates 99% of the airborne dust. DCS sanding is 100 times less dusty than conventional cloth bag sanding.
