WHAT NOT TO DO!
*Don't let sand, dirt, or grit build up. They can act like sandpaper and actually abrade and dull your finish.
*Don't damp mop hardwood floors. Too much water can cause the floor to swell or warp.
*Don't let your pets' claws go untrimmed. Proper claw trimming helps avoid scratches and gouges.
*Don't walk on your hardwood floors in high heels, and keep your heels in good repair.
*Don't use wax, oil soap, anything with the word glo (i.e. orange-glo, mop-n-glo) or other household cleaners on polyurethane finished wood floors. They can dull today's floor finishes and make refinishing difficult if not impossible.
WHAT TO DO!
*Vaccum or sweep floor regurlarly. General cleaning once a week is recommended. With the use of a Bona Kemi Floor Cleaning kit or Miniwax Polycare. Bona Kemi Floor Cleaner can be purchased at C & E Flooring Distributors, Inc. 221 Danbury Road Unit C, New Milford, CT. (860-355-3020)
*Remove spills promptly using Windex and a soft rag or paper towels.
*Place mats at exterior doors to trap sand and grit. Use area rugs in high traffic pathways, at the end of steps and near doorway. Avoid rubber backing or non-ventilated rugs.
*Use protective felt pads on the feet of smaller furniture (i.e. Chairs) Soft rubber cups on larger furniture such as beds, couches, etc.
*Maintain a consistent humidity level between heating seasons in all living areas. Excessive swings in humidity levels will cause hardwood floors to swell, shrink, cup, crack, and show excessive gaps between the boards. The use of a humidifier and/or dehumidifier system is recommended where inconsistent humidity levels occur.
*When the topcoat of finish looks worn, this is a good time to have your floors re-coated.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER YOUR WOODFLOOR IS FINISHED
After 1 day the floor will be 50% cured. Light foot traffic with sox only.
After 3 days the floor will be 70% cured. Furniture can be put back.
After 7 days the floor will be 100% cured. Area rugs can be put back.
